The Park-and-Ride Community (PARC) program is available Monday through Friday. StarMetro takes riders to the C.K. Steele Plaza at the corner of Tennessee Street and Adams Street downtown. From there, riders can transfer if necessary to other routes that will take them to their final destinations.

Route 16
This existing route runs once an hour; the trip downtown takes about 30 minutes. The PARC-ing lots are next to two stops:

  • Village Square (across the street from Po’ Boys Creole Cafe) – Bus leaves at 10 minutes past the hour every hour from 7:10 a.m. until 7:10 p.m.
  • South Maclay Blvd. (across the street from Premier Health & Fitness Center) – Bus leaves at 11 minutes past the hour every hour from 7:11 a.m. until 7:11 p.m.
  • Downtown – (C.K. Steele Plaza on Tennessee Street) – Bus arrives at 40 minutes past the hour every hour from 6:40 a.m. until 6:40 p.m.

Route 80X
This new express service is tentatively scheduled to begin running every half hour, starting October 30, 2007, north on Thomasville Road. In addition to Village and South Maclay stops, two more northerly stops are scheduled to be added: Wal*Mart Supercenter and Target. Once Route 80X receives approval for extension, we will post the schedule on this Web site.

I am interested in the Route 80X service.

  2. Deborah Keller Says:

I’d love to see a commuter bus from I 10 at exit 209A/B to downtown Tallahassee.

  3. Lu Grimm Says:

Where do I find out more information about the routes from downtown? I need to go to SouthWood, so getting downtown is only about halfway there!

  4. James Olcese Says:

Great idea! I would love to participate. My only concern is how to get to and from the west side of FSU campus efficiently….

  5. LaRae for PARC Says:

    Hi, Jan:

We just got word that 80X is tentatively scheduled to launch Oct. 30 (not Oct. 23). We’re waiting for the City Council to approve the extension — we should know by the end of next week.

Can you join us at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 30, for the orientation meeting at Momo’s Pizza, 1410 Market St.? We can answer any of your questions then. And you can pick up your goodie bag.

  6. parkandride Says:

To Jan Blue and Lu Grimm,

80X is currently a route that runs from downtown to Southwood. So Lu, that would be the bus you would transfer to from the downtown plaza.

As LaRae stated before, Star Metro is expected to extend that route up to Northeast Thomasville around 10/30, so you wouldn’t need to transfer anymore. The 80X extension is still tentative and dependent on approval by the board. When we find out about the status, we’ll update this site.

  7. parkandride Says:

    To James Olcese,

Check out the links to Star Metro’s website. They have a few different routes for FSU’s campus that you can transfer to once you reach the downtown plaza. I remember some of them going over to the west side of campus.

  8. Lisa Willaims Says:

Please consider a route and pick-up location on Hwy 27 South.

  9. Ron Vorp Says:

The Thomasville Road shuttle is a great idea. It will certainly help ease congestion. It would be even more helpful if it looped around downtown more. It’s quite a walk from Tennessee St. to many of the government offices. While the walk may be good exercise, it makes it difficult to get to work on time. A separate, smaller shuttle picking up passengers at Tennessee St. and looping around downtown would also work.

    Thank you

When you have park and ride at Target on t’ville rd, I will sign up!

  11. Christie Koontz Says:

I am also interested in the park n ride at the Target on Thomasville Road–I assume this is the one out by Bradforville Road? Please make it more clear what time busees leave CK Steele to come back. This is vague. I work at FSU and parking is our number one problem. Please let me know when this route is approved.

  12. Daniel Causey Says:

I am also interested in park and ride from the WalMart on T’ville Road. This would be perfect for me. Will the Park and Ride bus have the bike rack on it as well? The stop is close enough to home that I would like to bike to the park and Ride stop.

Please let me know with the Route 80X is approved and will start.

  13. parkandride Says:

    Greetings:
Here are answers to some of your questions.

    1. Daniel, yes, there is a bike rack on the front of the bus.

    2. Christie, yes, we’re talking about the Wal-Mart and Target on north Thomasville Road. Buses leave the plaza for home at 40 minutes past the hour. I believe the schedule for 80X is supposed to get you back to Target in about 30 minutes. It’s supposed to get to Village Square in about 20.

    3. Ron, I agree it makes a lot of sense to have a downtown shuttle, and I’ll pass the word to StarMetro (remember, we’re just citizen volunteers who have no money and are limited to using existing routes). However, there are several buses that will take you downtown. For example, I know that Route 14 does, but it tends to be a bit crowded at 8:40 a.m. I believe you can catch routes 5 and 80X, which have downtown stops. I suggest you check the StarMetro routes link or call them and ask. Walking is great, but as you said, some days that just doesn’t work.

    Hope this helps!

  14. Judy Says:

Is there any talk about a pilot out east of town – Mahan drive?

  15. parkandride Says:

    Hi, Judy:
We hope other citizen groups will decide to put together park-and-ride projects in their neighborhoods.

We are ready and willing to help anyone interested in doing so.

We understand that the Department of Transportation has plans to start park-and-ride projects sometime in the future. If we learn more, we’ll share that information on this site.

  16. Marianne Graves Says:

Is there any change that PARC will have a route going out Apalachee Parkway? I live past Chaires Cross Rd on 27 (Jefferson County) and work on Adams Street here in Tallahassee. Maybe a pickup at the Walmart? Wow, that would be so wonderful!! Thanks for all you have done and continue to do!

  17. Glenn Mitchell Says:

Any word on whether the 80X bus will start at Target tomorrow, Nov. 2? If so at what time and where?

  18. marty Says:

The google map that you have a link to above doesn’t have the route for 80X. I hope it takes Capital Circle NE and then Park Avenue to the downtown plaza. That way it could serve the Southwood crowd which could transfer, at Capital Circle and Park Ave location, to another city bus, and also serve people which work along Park Ave…

  19. David Says:

Would be interested in service from Bradforville Target to Northwood Centre.

  20. fran Says:

I am interested in using Star Metro for transportation but I work at TMH and have to be there at 0630 Sat-Sun-Mon. Would using StarMetro even be feasible with these constraints?
